Block House Creek Schools

The Block House neighborhood is served by the award winning and exemplary Leander Independant School District (Leander ISD or LISD). Block House Creek Elementary School is located in Blockhouse Creek at 401 Creek Run Drive. ACC or Austin Community College is nearby. There are also many private schools in the nearby area.

Block House Creek History

Block House is rich in history. After being originally inhabited by American Indians, the area now called Block House became a fort to defend settlers from Indian attacks – Tumlinson Block House. Post Civil War it became the Alexander Stuart Walker Ranch and was located up Brushy Creek from the Walsh Brothers Ranch which has now become the Walsh Ranch community. The entire Brushy Creek area was once occupied by Indians so a lot of artifacts have been found in the area. The Walker house from the Alexander Stuart Walker Ranch still exists in Block House, now renovated and available for resident’s use.
