St. Edward’s University Austin TX USA

St. Edward’s University at 3001 South Congress Avenue in Austin TX is considered one of America’s Best Colleges by Forbes and US News and World Report. It has many beautiful historic and architecturally significant buildings as seen in the photo I took above.

The University of Texas – Austin Texas

The University of Texas at Austin or UT as it is commonly called, originated in 1839, was founded in 1883 and enrolls upwards of 51,000 students today. There are 7 UT museums and 17 UT libraries. Both Newsweek and Forbes have rated it highly in the top 25 Most Desirable Large Schools and one of America’s Best Colleges.

Concordia University Austin Texas

Concordia University’s main campus is on 389 acres in northwest Austin TX off of Ranch Road 620 at 11400 Concordia University Drive. Ranked 18th in US News and World Report’s 2010 Best American Colleges, Concordia is a private liberal arts university. Founded in 1926, Concordia University was originally located just north of Downtown Austin TX on a 20 acre campus that was then in the countryside flanked by Red River on one side and East Avenue on the other. East Avenue eventually became the double decker Interstate 35 and Concordia concurrently became landlocked by dense development. Now, Concordia has relocated to a large acreage property off of Ranch Road 620 in northwest Austin. 250 acres of Concordia’s 389 acres are a nature preserve to protect the endangered Black-Capped Vireo and Golden Cheeked Warbler bird species.

Huston-Tillotson University – Austin TX

Huston-Tillotson College came from Tillotson Collegiate and Normal Institute which was Chartered in 1877 and opened in 1881 in Austin Texas. Renamed Huston-Tillotson University in 2005, has been a black institution historically and is known for a diverse student population. Located near the State Cemetary of Texas, between E 7th Street and E 11th Street at 900 Chicon Street in Austin Texas, Huston-Tillotson University can be reached at 512-505-3000.

Austin Community College is a public, two year college with many campusses in the Austin TX area. Austin also has 2 culinary schools.
